Super Hero, Pilot or Police Officer?

As a child, I never doubted it.
I wanted to become an interior designer.

While others wanted to be a superhero, a pilot or a police officer,
I was drawing floor plans of luxury homes.

Rooms. Routes. Perspectives.

Impatient to build.
Impatient to create.

In 2007, I graduated from Design Academy Eindhoven under the guidance of Lidewij Edelkoort and Liesbeth van der Pol.

A year later, I opened my first studio.

Ready to explore the boundaries of the profession.

The Part No One Talks About

From the outside, my studio looked successful.
Beautiful projects.
Recognition.
Growth.


On the inside, it felt different.

Long hours.
Financial pressure.
Creative energy leaking into operational chaos.

The tension between freedom and responsibility.


"We are trained to design spaces.
But not to design the studio that holds our life."


That realization changed everything.

Beyond Was Not a Business Idea

It was a necessity.

I began studying structure, positioning, decision-making and psychology.

Not as theory.
But inside real projects.

With real clients.
Real budgets.
Real deadlines.

Today, I co-own Masters of Interior Design and lead high-end residential projects.
Everything inside Beyond Interior Design is tested there first.

Form Follows Function Meaning

Most designers were taught that form follows function.

I believe something deeper:

Form Follows Meaning

In my projects, I learned that no material, layout or detail matters if a space does not reflect the life lived inside it.

"Why does this space exist?"
"What should it enable?"
"What must it express?
"


The same questions apply to your studio.


"Why do you design?"
"What do you stand for?"
"What do you refuse to compromise on?"


Without clarity of meaning, growth becomes pressure.
Marketing becomes noise.


Meaning is identity.

When identity is clear, form aligns.

Your positioning.
Your offers.
Your leadership.
